Hello, sweet tooths! 🧁

I know I’ve been a bit missing these past few months, but trust me, it’s all been for a good reason… I’ve been cooking up something super secret!  Something that involves cupcakes, sugar, and… a photo shoot in October that you definitely don’t want to miss! But shhh… I can’t spill the beans just yet.

In the meantime, let me tell you about my adventure in Germany this summer, full of history, sausages (yes, lots of sausages), and unforgettable moments.

Düsseldorf

My first stop was Düsseldorf, a city with a unique vibe. I was amazed by the mix of Japanese and German culture, and I ate all kinds of Asian food… I even tried some Korean bakeries!  I savored every corner, from the modern buildings to the historic old town. I loved getting lost in its streets. Here’s a hot tip: Korean cafes have cakes that are absolutely fantastic. Not only are they beautiful, but they’re also delicious!  I also loved the AquaZoo (it’s my favorite kind of zoo) and was pleasantly surprised to find puffins at the entrance. I thought those birds only lived on the Scottish islands, but I was wrong!

Aachen

I was really looking forward to seeing the cathedral and its treasure, and it didn’t disappoint! What a beautiful place! It was as impressive as a multi-tiered wedding cake.  The city of Charlemagne is stunning; its streets are a delight to wander around. The only thing that made me a little sad was that the town hall was closed to visitors, but you know what they say: if life gives you lemons, make lemonade! I guess it’s the perfect excuse to come back to this city!

P.S.: I passed by Aachener Café Haus GmbH and I have to say that their cakes were divine. If you ever visit, don’t miss it!

Köln

A city as sweet as vanilla and chocolate Ahhh… Cologne. What a beautiful city! I spent two days there and both days I visited the cathedral, had breakfast at Café Reichard on the terrace, totally mesmerized by the view. Special shout out to the little sparrows that fly towards your table trying to steal some bread or cake… I love birds! Oh, and I also met the Three Wise Men! They are buried inside the Cologne Cathedral. For Germans, they are normal saints, but in Spain they are the ones who bring gifts to children at Christmas, since we don’t have Santa Claus!

While I was walking around the streets, visiting every interesting church and building I came across, I stumbled upon a real gem: St. Maria im Kapitol… just WOW. It’s a Romanesque church, partially bombed during WWII, but now restored and housing one of the largest crypts I’ve ever seen.

My favorite place to record a beer was Papa Joe’s Klimperkasten. The decor was so unique, I’ve never seen anything like it – there was a band of robot musicians! The atmosphere was super cozy! I’ll definitely go back there if I’m ever back in Cologne.

Munster

Tanks and sausages (but not together, I promise!). For those who don’t know, I have a soft spot for military history and war equipment, so since I was in Germany… I visited the largest tank museum in the country! 🚗💥 Okay, I know it doesn’t sound as sweet as my usual content, but it was very interesting and if you’re into this kind of stuff, it’s a must-see! They have some real treasures, like the Daimler DZVR 21, Wotan, Sturmtiger, and my favorite… the Hetzer tank destroyer. 🤩 And to balance out all that adventure, I had some delicious sausages at the bar across the street. Every sweet tooth knows that sometimes you need a salty touch to make the sweet shine!

Bremen

The Sweetest Musicians I’ve Ever Met And to top off my adventure on a high note, Bremen! 🎶 I finally got to see the famous Bremen Town Musicians statue in person! 🐴🐱🐓🐕. Bremen has such a beautiful Altstadt (old town) that I could have walked around there all day. Of course, I took a thousand pictures with the musicians. 🎉

Germany was an amazing adventure filled with sausages, potatoes, haxes, beers, culture and lots of fun. But most importantly… I’m back, fully charged and with lots of sweet surprises to come (hint, hint… about the October photo shoot ).

So get ready, my loves, because I’m going to continue sweetening your days with more recipes, baking secrets and maybe a little mischief!
